  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup green chilies peeled, seeded, and chopped
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1.5 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns


  1. Heat olive oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Add onions and saute for 5 minutes, until starting to soften. Next, add garlic and saute an additional 30 seconds.

  2. Add in ground beef and use a spoon to break it up and mix together with onions and garlic. Continue cooking until ground beef is browned.

    Add in remaining ingredients, stir well, and simmer for 10 – 15 minutes.

  3. Toast buns, if desired, then add green chile sloppy joe mix to the bun and enjoy!
