Ingredients

Green Chile Cheeseburger

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup diced green chile
  • 4 slices monterey jack cheese
  • 8 slices sliced sourdough bread or bun of choice
  • Mayo optional

Tortilla Strips

  • 1 medium-sized flour tortilla
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Pico De Gallo

  • 1 medium tomato diced
  • 1/4 small onion diced
  • 1/2 jalapeno finely chopped
  • 2 sprigs fresh cilantro chopped
  • dash salt and pepper

Instructions

Green Chile Cheeseburger

  1. Combine ground beef, garlic, salt and pepper and mix well. Form into 4 round patties. Cook patties in a pan over medium heat, until cooked through. Add green chile and top with cheese. Reduce heat to medium-low and cover until cheese is melted. Remove from pan, and wipe pan clean. Add sourdough slices (or buns) to the same pan and toast on each side, until golden brown.
  2. Spread a little mayo on each bread slice, then build the green chile cheeseburger by layering the bread with the burger, tortilla strips, then pico de gallo.

Tortilla Strips:

  1. Cut the tortillas into very thin strips length-wise, then cut tortilla's width in thirds. Warm olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook until tortilla strips are golden brown and crisp.

Pico de Gallo:

  1. Combine all pico de gallo ingredients and mix well.
